BRICS Young Diplomats Forum

The BRICS Young Diplomats Forum (YDF) provides a platform to the young diplomats from BRICS countries to engage, interact and share their experiences and perspectives. The 1st BRICS YDF was held in Moscow, Russia on October 28, 2015.

India hosted the 2nd BRICS YDF in Kolkata in September 2016, under the theme ‘Contribution of youth and young professionals in the effective functioning of BRICS and Multilateral issues viz, Climate change, Sustainable Development Goals 2030 Global trade Slowdown.’ The forum made recommendations to explore the possibility of participation and exchange of young diplomats in various professional courses conducted by Foreign Services Institutes of BRICS countries.

The 3rd BRICS YDF was held in Beijing and Linyi City, Shandong Province, China in June 2017 under the theme "BRICS: Stronger Partnership for a Brighter Future’. The young diplomats discussed ways to boost people-to-people exchanges amongst BRICS countries.

At the 4th YDF held at Pretoria, South Africa in June 2018 under the theme ‘BRICS in Africa: Collaboration for Inclusive Growth and Shared Prosperity in the Fourth Industrial Revolution’, the diplomats discussed on possible collaborations between the countries in the spheres of culture, innovations and technologies, economic and trade cooperation.

The 5th BRICS YDF was hosted under Russia’s BRICS Chairship at Kazan in October 2020. The participants held discussions as to how young diplomats can help strengthen diplomatic relations between countries and digitalization of diplomatic activities.
