BRICS Civil Forum

The BRICS Civil Forum, initiated in 2015, aims at fostering constructive dialogue between Civil Society Organizations and academia in BRICS countries on a wide range of socio-economic issues.

Enhancing P2P cooperation is one of India’s key priorities. India hosted the 2nd BRICS Civil Forum in New Delhi on 3-4 October, 2016 that aimed to facilitate and support deeper engagement with Civil Society groups from BRICS countries, and ever since, it has become an important P2P mechanism under BRICS. The 2nd BRICS Civil forum had discussions on quality of economic growth in BRICS countries, inclusive multilateralism, health and malnutrition, sustainable urbanization, youth, livelihood skills and quality education.

The 3rd BRICS Civil Forum was hosted by China in Fuzhou from 10-12 June, 2017. At the forum, the participants discussed new ideas for improved coordination among civil society organizations in BRICS countries

The 4th BRICS Civil Forum was held in Johannesburg from 25-27 June, 2018 to discuss everyday challenges faced by the ordinary citizens of BRICS countries.

The 5th BRICS Civil Forum under the theme “Advancing BRICS People-to-People Cooperation for Sustainable Future” was organized from 23-25 September, 2020 in Russia in hybrid (both online and offline) format.
